About PATNA

Africa shaping the rules, not inheriting them

Africa moves over 90% of its trade by sea and holds 60% of the world’s prime solar resources, yet has had little say in the rules that price its shipping. PATNA builds the evidence, the coordinated positions and the technical capacity that change it.

  • 100+ African technical experts, policymakers and researchers
  • First national shipping emissions inventories for six African states
  • The 15 Dakar Declarations, adopted as a unified African position
  • Africa's continental maritime decarbonisation strategy, adopted by the AU
