Founder and Director of Rural Empowerment and Climate Technology Initiative

Kitgak Simon is an Electrical/Electronics Engineering graduate and MSc Information Technology student at the University of the People, USA, with a passion for leveraging technology and innovation to address global challenges. He is a renewable energy researcher, climate advocate, and sustainability champion whose work spans clean energy, ocean and nature conservation, and community resilience. As founder and Director of Rural Empowerment and Climate Technology Initiative, Kitgak has led projects on agroecological farming, rural electrification research, and digital skills empowerment, and has participated in international environmental platforms including the UNEP Nitrogen Working Group and UNCCD Youth Caucus. He has undergone training with the International Ocean Institute and interned with Ocean Uprise, contributing to marine conservation advocacy. Recognized as a Diana Award recipient, UNHCR Young Refugee Champion, and Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Ambassador, Kitgak blends technical expertise with grassroots action, driving solutions in climate, energy, and biodiversity protection while mentoring youth in research, innovation, and sustainable development.
